Can I use self-raising flour for yeast bread dough?

No, it is not recommended to mix self-raising flour with yeast. Bread doughs rely on a living organism, yeast, to produce the gas. The yeast 'feeds' on the sugars in the dough batter and releases gas as a by-product. Bread must be left to stand to give the yeast time to work. Carbon dioxide released from the self-raising flour dough and the salt in the flour affect the yeast growth and eventually produce an uneven texture of the dough.
